This verse is very pivotal and it truly is where our mindset needs to be in order to follow Christ. We no longer come first. As a matter of fact nothing comes before Christ. Not your child, not your spouse, not your job, nothing nor no one. I was losing focus of this when God called me back to Him. He came to me and pointed out the people and the things that were coming first and it was painful to hear. I was ashamed and also very sad that God felt He was not even in my top 3 of importance. It surely was not something I was conscience of but it in fact was true. Understand God represents love but He is a jealous God too and He will take away all the things/people you are coveting before Him. That is the meaning of the word, idolatry. It is anything that comes before your God. We must all assess ourselves to make sure our priorities are in order. God must be first in all our lives and He will work everything else out according to His purpose, not ours. I have told you before I was on a merry go round of life working and working trying to keep up with my responsibilities when I was missing all the blessings of them. When I turned my "blessings" into "responsibilities", I began my down spiral. So please learn from me and make sure the same doesn't happen to you. Keep Him front AND center and everything will come together-trust Him!
