The Lord does not like when we justify our sins. He rather us be open and honest and confess we were wrong instead of trying to make excuses for it. If someone gives you too much change at the store and you keep it, you are wrong. You cannot blame them and say, "well if they don't know how to count then it is not my fault." But it is your responsibility at all times to be holy and righteous and to walk blamelessly in the Lord's sight. Money seems to be the gray area most people justify in their minds. I had 2 separate Christians this week share their stories with me about receiving God's blessing and yet when I heard how, I told them that they failed the test of God and that their deeds were not truthful. Omission is sin. If someone returns an item to the store that was never bought there, it is a sin. If the cashier forgot to ring an item up and you do not go back to correct it, the Lord will hold you accountable. These actions are not pleasing to Him. We all need to speak up and do right. Lying about your age to get a cheaper ticket or premium is wrong, wrongfully using a company credit card or automobile is a sin. Taking items from work that are not yours is wrong, as is not clocking out for your lunch. We all do things that seem so trifling and small but they are all wrong in the eyes of God. Especially when we profess them to be blessings when they are not. Be careful that you are not deceived by your own actions. The good news to all this? Is that God loves us and forgives us when we do wrong so we should confess our sins before Him today and repent and He is faithful and just in forgiving us. That is the loving promise He offers. So we must be on guard to never minimize our sin.
The Lord abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight. Proverbs 11:1
You must be blameless before the Lord your God. Deuteronomy 18:13
