Friday, March 29, 2013 "It Is Finished"

The Death of Jesus

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

                                           There is a cross.
                                           He made a way
                                           for me because
                                           of the cross. It is
where my precious Lord and Savior hung and suffered
while nailed to the boards and wearing a crown of thorns.
His back tortured by the beating.  Left to be ridiculed and
watched as He lie there helplessly dying. And His mother
standing nearby heart broken. But Jesus came to fulfill this
                                           very act so that our
                                           sins would be forgiven
                                           and we would not
                                           perish but have ever-
                                           lasting life for those
                                           that believed in Him.
                                           People call it "Good
                                           Friday" and then ask
                                           what is so good about
                                           it?  The crucifixion was
                                           perhaps the cruelest way
                                           anyone in history has
                                           ever died but we as
                                           believers know the
                                           ending to this story and
in 3 nights and in 3 days,
                                           all would be rejoicing. So
                                           let the Lord's death remind
you that the wicked do not
                                           win. The righteous and holy
                                           are victorious. For we are
                                           saved by His blood that
was shed for us so many
                                           years ago today.  The stripes
on His back remind us that
                                           because of that beating,
we live.  So reflect on His
                                           sacrifice today for you.
                                           Honor and glorify Him in
all you do today.  For the
cross made a way for you
and for me and today is the
day we need to rejoice and
                                           be glad.  Thank you Jesus
for the cross. I love You.
