Sunday, March 10, 2013 "Obedience in the Lord"

"But if anyone obeys His Word, God's love is truly made complete in Him."

ObeyThe Biblical word for “obey” comes from the Greek “hupakou” which means to listen attentively; by implication to heed or conform to a command or authority. This word conveys the idea of actively following a command. There is no choice in the matter, it is to be done whether one agrees with it or not. Obedience is involuntary.

Obedience unlocks God's super natural power.  When the Lord asks us to do something, we must obey. It is the key to our spiritual freedom.  God commands of us obedience (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) and expects it of us (John 15:14). And when the Lord asks us to do something and we do not respond, the Lord will give us a choice.  For those experiencing this currently, I pray you seek the Lord's Word and use wisdom when making that choice.  For when we knowingly rebel against the will of God, it is dangerous.  If you ask how to make it right with God? You must submit to the authority of God immediately.  And if you choose to continue with your life in disobedience, you acknowledge there will be loss of blessings. Romans 2:6-8 says.. "He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury".  It is my prayer that we all choose to live under the authority of Jesus Christ.  Favor, power and blessing will be yours and mine.  There is no greater example of this than Abraham. And when he was about to kill his son in obedience to God, the Lord spoke through an angel and this was His message to Abraham and it is the same message for you and for me. And it is what I live my life by. Genesis 22:17-18 "I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

Proverbs 13:13 Whoever despises the word brings destruction on himself, but he who reveres the commandment will be rewarded.
Psalms 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
Luke 11:28 But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!” (Jesus speaking)
Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
