"There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers". Proverbs 6:16-19
How we respond matters to the Lord. In fact He tests us many times to see our hearts. How do you react to gossip in the workplace? Do you walk away from it, do you join in to be a part of the group, or do you stand up and tell them it is not right to talk about another person? How do you respond when someone shares with you another person's "secret"? "A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends". Proverbs 16:28 Do you tell the person to stop for it is wrong or do you listen and chime in? We must never engage in any of this for it is being disobedient to God's word. The Lord despises such fodder. "Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure". Psalm 101:5 These are words of the Lord and He is not "playing around". We must not lie and we should know that the Lord will never put us in a position where we have to. He despises liars, phony people who smile on the outside but quietly harbor bad feelings. For God, it is about our response to such things and our hearts. Therefore love your accuser. Pray for your enemy. Lift up your adversary. And be who God is...pure in Spirit, pure in Truth and pure in His Love and rise above all others' nonsense. One of my favorite scriptures that sums it up beautifully is "blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God". Matthew 5:9
