1 John 3:18
18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
You have heard the saying, "actions speak louder than words" ? This is where it derived from. I believe it to be true in the sense that a person can promise anything with good intent but without the action, it is nil. Therefore the Lord judges us by our hearts, by our motives, by our intent. He rather us pray a simple prayer while living a holy life versus someone who can pray beautifully all the while they are living a sinful lifestyle. The actions of a person speak the truth over their words. Do you speak one way but act another? Do you say one thing but are thinking another? We really need to be aware that the Lord knows all and you will reap what you sow. I shutter when I hear people judge another or criticize another for I believe what they "reap" with their words will come back to them later. The Lord demands that we love one another as He loves us. The very way we treat someone is the way He will treat us. Be kind, loving and supportive. To show anger is easy but it is one letter away from "danger" so be very careful with your words. There is power in our words. Our life, our actions, the way we carry ourselves will carry more weight with an unbeliever for a changed life is a wonderful testimony. If I am witnessing to someone about the Lord but am known to use foul language,my testimony loses meaning. But if I exemplify the Lord with the way I handle myself in situations... slow to anger, quick to forgive, quick to encourage by maintaining a positive attitude, then my testimony has more credibility to others. Actions versus words. So to those that fear even the word "evangelizing", we all can do it by our actions. Opening a door for someone, sharing a cab, letting someone ahead of you in line, smiling to a stranger are all wonderful attention grabbers. Isn't that an amazing? Another thing to be aware of is to know that more eyes are on a believer than those that are not born again. We are held to a higher standard and it comes with huge responsibility for we are accountable to God. So speak truth and share God's wisdom with others. Witness to another by living a holy and righteous life. Sharing a drink at the bar on Friday night and inviting someone to church on Sunday may not be the wisest thing. You must be on guard at all times and lead by example. Your actions are being noticed by not just those around you, but by your Almighty Father in heaven. Please Him today, honor Him with your life and glorify His name. You will not only bless others but it will be a blessing to you as well. God loves all His children, therefore we must as well.
