The Lord is more concerned with the posture of your heart than the posture of your body when praying to Him. A wise revelation spoken last night by a brother of mine. We were discussing the power in prayer (Bible Study Notes Available Here) last night and we all studied the various postures the bible spoke of when praying. Some spoke of praying while kneeling, bowing, while others had their faces down, some stood. I love to sit in my front living room early in the morning and say my prayers. I don't believe in long, fancy prayers. I believe in effective prayers and prayers of thanksgiving. Sometimes it is good to just thank and praise God for all He has done in our lives. I love spending time with Him all the time that I don't need to be in deep prayer at a certain time of day. I don't believe in repetitious prayers, I believe in humble and honest prayers. The Lord knows our words before they are spoken therefore we are to be nothing more than open and true in His presence. There is prayer of expectancy. My mindset on thanking the Lord for already answering my prayers has transformed my prayer life. I pray with confidence that if my petitions are one with the Word, than they shall be answered. As a child my favorite scripture was Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. I believe when we have faith as small as a mustard seed (Matthew 17:20), the Lord answers our prayers. Faith moves His hand. Spending time with Him moves His hand. Obedience unlocks His power and I know that tithing and giving of oneself plants deep rooted strong seeds into the soil. We must first plant the seeds before we reap the harvest and many believers don't know that and/or want to "skip" that part. The Lord is not your genie to rub for your wishes and then "back on the shelf He goes" ....you will never mature in your walk if He is used in such manner. Are you frustrated by unanswered prayers? Have you walked away from God because He didn't give you what you wanted? Be mindful of your wants and your needs and examine the intent of your heart for there is a reason why He chose not to answer your prayer. Our God can do anything (Luke 1:37) and knowing this truth tells us it is something in our life that is stopping Him. And in other times, having done all you can do, pray and pray some more. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and remember as we learned last night, the Lord answers us in 3 ways.... YES, NO and NOT YET. Keep the faith today. He hears you. And He loves you.
