Ephesians 4:29
29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
It is hard for me to not always speak my mind. People call me blunt and honest but as I mature spiritually I also realize that guarding my mind, thoughts, and words is actually wiser. How often have you spoken from the heart and someone twisted your words, thrown them back at you later, got angry at you for your upfront approach? I can answer "more than once" to all three posed questions thus the reason I prayed for another way for my trust in others was beginning to suffer. Of course honesty is the only way for the Lord despises liars, white lies, fibs; in fact all dishonesty is measured the same therefore a lie is a lie in God's eyes. But I also know that some things are left best unsaid so I pray and ask the Lord to help me with my words so I know what should be said and what should be left quiet. I know that words can encourage, uplift, motivate and inspire as well as they can hurt, defeat, discourage and damage someone. So I am learning how to choose to show God's love through my words. " He who does not love does not know God, for God is love." 1 John 4:8 And I am also praying that others learn to keep one another's confidence when someone confides in them and to remain loyal at all times and not hurt each other with their own words later. Let's all love one another by our actions and our words. I truly believe it can make a world of difference in our own personal relationships and with our future ones. Have a blessed weekend.
