"We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties." - Oswald Chambers
The Lord never said we would not face life's difficulties but what He did promise was we would never have to face them alone. When we look to Him and not the mountain we face, we are encouraged and focused. Think about being home all alone during a "storm in your life"... You end up dwelling on it, worrying yourself sick, becoming obsessed with it because your mind is not on anything else. Now imagine a close friend is there with you, talking with you, counseling you, listening and encouraging, your mind is at rest and you can relax. That is what our times of heart ache will always be like when we have Jesus in our life. He is our refuge and our strength and He can move any mountain placed in our way. We will never see the rainbow on the horizon if we concentrate on the rain. As difficult as what you are going through, you can call upon the Lord for His peace and it shall be upon you. When I find myself unable to sleep, I will ask the Lord to grant me enormous peace and help me sleep through the night and He always does. So keep your eyes on the King and nothing else. And His joy will be your strength.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. Psalm 86:7
Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:8
