Monday, February 3, 2014 "Do Not Grovel or Complain"

14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”[c] Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky. Philippians 2:14-15

I learned that the Lord is never pleased when we complain or speak in an ungrateful tone.  I am reminded of the story in Number, chapter 11, when the people were complaining to Moses and the Lord grew angry. The Bible says they were "whining" about the manna food they were being blessed by. The Lord provided for them with enough food to eat each and every day. But instead of being thankful for the "angel food" sent from Heaven, they groveled they wanted meat. The Lord over heard the people talking to Moses and sent His wrath over many of the people. The point is as relevant today as it was then.  We must not cry and whine when we feel we are being short changed by God in any area. Whether you are struggling to make ends meet or if you are being mistreated at work, whatever we are facing we must know that the Lord is above it all. The Lord has power over all things and if He is allowing these things in our lives than it means He is trying to teach us something. We grow in our trials and we are strengthened during hard times. I mind my mouth when I am ready to complain and I instead count my blessings for I fear my Lord with trembling.  I try to remain as pure as I can be in His eyes. I know I fall short, I am human and I am weak. But I try every day to be what God called me to be. I will not get caught up in an argument with someone nor do I need to have the last word. I do not find the need to defend myself against accusations of any kind for I know who I am in Christ. I hold my life up to the standard of today's scripture in Philippians 2:14-15 everyday I breathe. He is Who I long to please and be near. He is my Father and I am grateful for all He has blessed me with.
