And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’
“Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain.19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’
“This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.” Luke 12: 16-21
It has been on my heart lately that so many people are blessed and yet are not rich toward God, the One whom all blessings come from. They are generous to themselves and to their children but when it comes to giving of themselves whether it be financial or time, they are for lack of a better word, "stingy". The biblical truth is none of us can ever out give God. And although we may grow older and retire from working, none of us are exempt from working for the Kingdom of God. There is no retirement when serving the Lord. There is no limit we reach when giving back. There is no "time served" stamp. Christians do not have expiration stamps on their foreheads. We are to give, serve, and work toward building the Kingdom of God and its children until the day we take our last breath.
