Saturday, February 21, 2015 "Now What?"

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:10

So you have accepted Jesus into your heart and asked Him to forgive you of your sins.  Now what?  So many people go to church and hear the invitation, raise their hand and repeat the "sinner's prayer" but then return home and do nothing with their decision.  It is so important to connect with a Bible teaching church and join other believers in a Bible study or circle.  Fellowship not only strengthens our own walk but we learn from others.  I love talking with new believers who have a lot of questions about what to expect, how life will be, Who is Jesus?  The truth is our lives sometimes get harder as a Christian than when we blindly went through our sinful lives. We are held to a higher standard through word and action and eyes are always on us.  I remember years ago I was at work and I said some choice words. Someone immediately said to me, "Christians aren't supposed to curse" to which I responded and said, "you are right, I was wrong and I should not have spoken that way but I am human, like you and I will make mistakes too. I do not profess to be perfect." I remembered then what a heavy responsibility I had because I was a representative of Jesus. The point is, your life will change in every way. People, places, and things that once made you happy will no longer satisfy you. You will no longer desire them because your heart will begin to change. You will become more and more like God and less like your old self. It is an amazing transformation and a journey of deliverance, repentance,  and forgiveness. Do not be afraid but instead embrace it. This is day one of the rest of your life. Your future has now just begun. Amen!
