Wednesday, November 9, 2016 "He Has Authority"

We mustn't give authority to man. In this recent election emotions are running high with elation or defeat depending on who one voted for. But the truth is our leader is Jesus Christ and He has authority over all. We are to pray for our government and ask the Lord to guide them and grant them wisdom to make the right decisions but we do not look to them for our needs. The Lord is who we are to turn to. This is His land, His country and He has dominion over all. Trust in His choice this election season and lean not on your own understanding. 

"Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment." Romans 13:2

Tuesday, November 8, 2016 "Election Day Prayer"

Lord God, as the election approaches,

we seek to better understand the issues and concerns that confront our city/state/country,

and how the Gospel compels us to respond as faithful citizens in our community.

We ask for eyes that are free from blindness

so that we might see each other as brothers and sisters,

one and equal in dignity,

especially those who are victims of abuse and violence, deceit and poverty.

We ask for ears that will hear the cries of children unborn and those abandoned,

Men and women oppressed because of race or creed, religion or gender.

We ask for minds and hearts that are open to hearing the voice of leaders who will bring us closer to your Kingdom.

We pray for discernment

so that we may choose leaders who hear your Word,

live your love,

and keep in the ways of your truth

as they follow in the steps of Jesus and his Apostles

and guide us to your Kingdom of justice and peace.

We ask this in the name of your Son Jesus Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Friday, November 4, 2016 "When We Do Not Forgive"

It is not our right to not forgive someone. If we harbor un forgiveness in our hearts, we are losing out on our own blessings from God. I am sorry but my faith and relationship with the Lord is more important than any action, deed or word done against me by another. If you are holding on to something someone said or did to you, why not let it go today and give it to God? It is not worth it. I refuse to allow anyone to come between me and my God. Instead I choose to forgive, let the ill will go and move on. I honestly feel better and am at peace and so will you. Nothing is more important than pleasing Him. 

 But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:15

It is very hard to remain silent when others are doing wrong. But I believe in the power of Jesus Christ, and I know the sins of man cannot be kept in the dark. I know all things will come out in the end. I do not need to fight my battle for the battle is the Lord's and HE will fight for me for vengeance is His. Is it hard to wait? Yes! But no matter how long it takes for the wrong to be made right, I will wait upon the Lord.

I have heard it before and it really resonates with me lately. When we rest, God works and when we work, God rests. I choose to rest in Him today and call upon Him to work on my behalf.

"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many woman do noble things, but you surpass them all."

This is a tribute to my Mom, my angel in heaven, Bianca. She went home to be with the Lord a year ago this morning and my mind is flooded with different memories. I loved my Mom for she was a true woman of God. Her heart was pure and she loved her Lord and she loved her children, her husband, her sisters and brothers, her nieces and nephews and her friends. She was an amazing Mom and a loyal wife. She kept peace and order in our lives and was a steady presence. She taught us early on who Jesus was but also allowed us to develop our own relationship with Him and as adults all five of her children are saved and born again in the Holy Spirit and have been baptized as adults. She may not have always understood all the elements of being "born again" having been raised Catholic but she had a heart for people, others and had enough joy to fill an entire stadium so she had what many "Christians" didn't have and that was nobility. Her reputation was that of kindness, generosity, extremely thoughtful and as an adult woman when I was blessed with success, it was my honor and privilege to spoil her rotten. From trips to dinners to behind home plate Phillies tickets, Broadway shows, she was my constant companion and when I married my wonderful husband, we became a threesome. He loved her and she adored and loved him and welcomed him into our little circle with open arms. I miss her deeply and I mourn her loss but I know I will one day see her and my Dad again. For as a believer, I know this is not the end. So Mom, you will always be my light, my love, my greatest treasure. I am so honored the Lord chose you to be my parent. Psalm 139:13 "for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." You were the best friend a daughter could ever hope for. I will always hold on to my memories of you and me....our long talks on the phone as I drove home from work, all the panicked calls to you to pray immediately for one drama or another, the contagious laugh that only you and I shared, the love we had for Bobby Abreu and Jimmy Rollins, diner food and my fondest of all, our annual Christmases in New York City and the Rockettes, Mom you were then and still today, my heart and my soul and I cannot wait to see you again. Until then....I miss u Mom!

The Lord called me out of the world six years ago today. I was asked to put everything down that I held on to for security and trust Him only. There is definitely a misconception that money means you are extra special in God's eyes. Jesus Himself was poor and had no possessions therefore where does it say money equals His favor? I do believe when we work, budget, tithe and are responsible with what God has given us, He honors that and therefore increases our blessings. But it does not mean we are extra special for our Lord God does now show favoritism. "For God does not show favoritism" (Romans 2:11). Do not look down on another for what they may or may not have.

 As I get older, I choose to surround myself with friends who are evenly yoked with me. It does not mean I separate myself from non believers, it simply means my relationship with  my Lord is most important to me. In my life He is the center, and I want to express my love and gratitude for Him not suppress my love and gratitude for Him. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. 

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

Sunday, May 29, 2016 " Why Aren't I Popular?"

Do you ever feel like an outsider in this world? Unpopular? Not part of any circle? Truth is I have felt that way, but I read in the Word of God that most of Jesus' disciples were unpopular and so was Jesus Himself.  We are set apart from this world therefore we will not fit in nor be the most wanted guest at a party. It is something I have come to accept and in church yesterday I came upon this scripture and it was so fitting for how I was feeling and it made be feel better-

James 4:4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

We are the head not the tail and we are the victor never the victim.  Do not let the enemy lie to you into making you believe you do not have worth.  You were created with value and purpose. Glory be to God!

No one can come between me and my relationship with the Lord. But I have seen so many strong Christians be brought down by either their non believing spouses or friends and loved ones. It is sad and I can understand how it happens. But please trust in the Lord and choose Him over any person that is being used to hurt your relationship with Him. The minute you were saved, you placed a target on your back for the enemy. He comes to kill, destroy and rob us in every way and that includes our relationships not only with God but with others. Monday, May 23, 2016 "Will of God"

I have learned over the years how not to get in front of God.  So many past mistakes, so many wasted years caused by my own ignorance, but I have learned to birth everything by prayer. Before I make a move now, my husband and I will pray about it and give it to God. We wait upon Him and remain still. It takes perseverance and it takes patience but I promise you living a life according to God's will is like no other.

Sunday, May 22, 2016 "What Saves You"

Being a good person does not save you.  Works does not save you. Believing that sin is real and that God did something about it in the person of Jesus Christ is what saves you. When you confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will be saved. Period. End of Conversation.

Life is about choices. And those choices will bear consequences. When someone chooses to deny Jesus Christ as the personal Lord and Savior, there will be eternal ramifications. Heaven is a real place. Hell is a real place. The choice you make today will determine where you will spend eternity.

Friday, May 20, 2016 "My Relationship is not a Religion"

My faith is my own personal story about my relationship with Jesus. I do not worship His statue nor feel the need to pray on my knees. I do not pray repetitious prayers nor say novenas nor use beads. Those rituals are of a religion, not of a personal relationship. I live my life for my Lord and He is my life line. I adore Him and call Him my Father. I speak to Him all day, everyday, not just on Sundays. I am a Christian-a child of God.

Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God. Hebrew 6:1

It is so important that we share our faith with others. Jesus is man's only hope and He calls us to share that truth with those we meet. I know it is scary because we fear being rejected or ridiculed but the Holy Spirit will go before us. Our testimony may be the only one someone ever hears. 

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15

It is easy to get caught up in negative thinking. Joyce Meyer calls it "stinkin thinkin" and it really is. Nothing good comes out of it.  If we allow our minds to go down a dark rabbit hole,we lose sight of God's light. We must place our faith and trust in Him and not give in to thoughts that make us anxious or angry. Stay in the light of God. 

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

Wednesday, May 4, 2016 "Forgiveness Is Not Forgetting"

It is okay to remove toxic people from your life. It is okay to put yourself before others that hurt you. However no situation is a justified reason not to forgive.  The Word of God commands us to forgive others as God first forgave us. (Ephesians 4:32) This is not an option for us. Is it always easy? Of course not especially in severe situations but we are called to forgive. Don't miss your blessing because of unresolved feelings of forgiveness. This is about your well being and your relationship with God no one else. And remember forgiveness is not forgetting. 

"Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven."  Matthew 18:21-22

Tuesday, May 3, 2016 "His Will Not Mine"

The familiar saying is "we make plans and God laughs" but there is some truth to it.  The point is we mustn't get a head of God.  So often people make plans, assume things without considering the will of God.  Instead we should begin by prefacing, "God willing I will be graduating next year."  He is pleased when we include Him in our lives-in the big things and in the small.  Let us keep God in the center of our lives so that all things are birthed into prayer and of His will. There is nothing else I want for me. 

"Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!" Psalm 143:10

Monday, May 2, 2016 "Just Talk to Him"

It is okay to cry out to God and ask him why?  He wants to have that close personal relationship with you. Do not buy into the mindset that we mustn't speak to our Lord in that way. He loves us and loves being close with us. I share my heart with Him on every level. I talk to Him like He is the room with me. I ask Him why all the time and it is okay. You can be yourself with your Heavenly Father-He draws near to those that draw near to Him. Don't be shy-just talk to Him. 

And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 1 John 5:14

Sunday, May 1, 2016 "It is Not About Us"

Sometimes it is not about us.  People of this generation are so obsessed with self but the Word of God teaches us we must love others and help others.  There will be days when we must answer the call and be there for a friend, foe or even stranger. It is easy to love those that love us but imagine how much more difficult it is to show that same emotion to someone who hasn't shown that kind of love toward you. But we must not be tit for tat nor keep score but instead just bless someone because we can- let us be there for someone because we should. #obedienceunlocksGod'spower

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Saturday, April 30, 2016 "Leave Our Hurts in His Hands"

Not all days are going to be wonderful cheery days but we mustn't allow ourselves to dwell on the negative. Instead we must fight through the battle of sadness, bitterness, anger maybe even depression to dwell instead on our Father in Heaven. He loves us and will fight the battle for us. Let us leave our hurts in His hands. 

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. Proverbs 4:23

We represent our Almighty Father in heaven and the last thing we would ever want to do is give someone a bad impression of a Christian because of our own sinful behavior. It is not about being perfect but rather being mindful and disciplined. Be accountable and aware....at all times!

There is power when we pray. It is how we fight the enemy and all of his works. Never stop! In fact we must pray more and in with boldness. Be strong and be courageous. Prayer changes things.

Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:18

Tuesday, April 26, 2016 "Forgiveness"

We must not allow our hearts to grow bitter from past hurts. Instead we must forgive and ask the Lord to heal us so we can continue to love in spirit and truth. God is about love not bitterness.

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 

 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

Monday, April 25, 2016 'Increase of Wickedness"

This world is growing colder.  The Bible tells us at the end days people's hearts will grow cold.  They have taken God out of schools, prohibited prayer, Washington, D.C., off our money and then wonder what is wrong with this country? Crime, sexual perversion, hatred, terrorism..all on the rise. Coincidence?

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. Matthew 24:12
