We must obey God rather than human beings. So many people lose sight of this. We innocently get caught up in pleasing others in our different roles. But we fail to see that we are in fact not always obeying God. I see it everyday with couples who are unevenly yoked. People that live together because one person is not ready to be married when you are. We do it at work and in the home. We mask it as compromise. We hide behind, "I am just doing what I have to do right now". We call it being "responsible". Let me tell you something I learned the hard way. God comes first and His will, not your own agenda. We need to obey Him and give Him the consequences of our lives and stop justifying our reasons as survival.
I still to this day keep my reminder of this powerful message on a small postcard that my church handed out that reads... "SPEAK LORD, AND I'LL LISTEN AND OBEY!"
Acts 5: 29
